My Favorite iPhone Picture App!

My favorite feature on the iPhone are all the apps that are available for it. I used to always use an app called, "Shake It!" which made regular mobile photos look like polaroids. They did an update recently, and it lost it's contrast and vignetting. I was a little upset about this because it lost that "vintage" look. Sadly, I bought the Hipstamatic app since it was based off a LOMO and other toy cameras. It had the finishes I wanted for my pictures, but it was a hassle to use. THEN one day while browsing the app store I found INSTAGRAM. It had good reviews and it was FREE so I downloaded it. IT IS MY ABSOLUTE, FAVORITE APP! It's easy to use and has 11 different filters that you can mess around with (:

The Instagram icon is on the bottom right.

After you open the app, you'll get alerts on the bottom right of screen of new messages, likes, and followers. I really don't pay attention to the social networking of this app, I just use it for the filters :) To edit a picture, tap on the camera icon in the middle of the screen.

After you tap the camera icon, it'll bring you to a screen where you can capture a new image.

To edit a picture you already have, tap the square icons on the bottom left. It'll open your photo album that's already existing on your phone. Instagram crops your pics into a square so you'll have to choose what part of the pic you want to edit.

(Me and my sissy in law, oalimay <3 !)

After you crop your picture, you can choose a filter you like! (Hover for Filter names.)

This filter gives a cross processed look.

Whiter, brighter contrast.

A softer, vintage look. (One of my favorites!)

Focuses more on vignetting. It also adds a red "light leaks" in the corners and across the picture.
(You can't tell in this picture, sorry!)

Adds a canvas texture & brightens the center of the picture. It also adds slight vingetting.

A traditional B&W filter.

Washes out the picture & adds white swirls & spots for an aged, spacy look.

This is my FAVORITE filter! It adds a nice warmth & some contrast. I like the black border too.

Another B&W with more contrast.

1977 Filter. Pretty self explanitory ;P

Adds a sephia layer & a scratched out border. <3

After you pick the filter you want, press next, and it will ask if you want to post it to Twitter or whatever social network you link it to. I personally don't link it because there's a biter that follows me on Twitter. LOL!!! =___=;

If you download this app, add me & I'll add you too. LOL (;

Identity Crisis! Did Your Astrological Sign Change Too? o___0

Sadly, I get most of my news from Twitter. Mostly because it's easily accessible through my iPhone app and I can see what my friends from around the world are babbling about. I was bored, logged in at home and I took a look at the "Trending Topics". That's when the word, "Ophiuchus" caught my eye. I've never heard of that word before so I decided to google it.

So here's the summary of my reading this article from NBC:

  • The sun and moon are always moving. Because of that, they are in a different position from 3,000 years ago when astrology began (12 zodiac signs were assigned to 12 different periods of the year).
  • Those signs you were born into are different now because of a "wobble" in the Earth's axis has "created a one month bump"
  • As a result of that "bump" everyone's "new" sign is the one before it.
According to the article, these are the NEW signs:
(And yes, I noticed that certain dates overlap, too lazy to dig up why. LOL!)
Capricorn: Jan. 20 - Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16 - March 11
Pisces: March 11- April 18
Aries: April 18- May 13
Taurus: May 13- June 21
Gemini: June 21- July 20
Cancer: July 20- Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10- Sept. 16
Virgo: Sept. 16- Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30- Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23- Nov. 29

Ophiuchus: Nov. 29- Dec. 17 *What ARE you?!
Sagittarius: Dec. 17- Jan. 20
Ophiuchus

According to SCHMjDT's blog, Ophiuchus is the sign of a man holding a serpent. A serpent as in the one who tempted Adam and Eve and ended their time in paradise. Interesting...

So anyway, I'm a CAPRICORN now. Good thing I passed on getting my zodiac sign tattooed on me!  xD

** EDIT // Apparently if you look at my screen capture, the change only affects those born after 2009. Again,TOO LAZY TO GOOGLE IT**

How to "Hack" Your Facebook Profile!

Due to flash flood warnings and sudden, torrential downpour on Oahu, my beach day with my friends got canceled. SAD! Thanks to Mashable on Twitter and to The Telegraph I found a way to pass time. In the article it explains how to make your "new" FB profile look like Alexandre Oudin, who is credited with starting this whole "face in your profile" thing!

The steps SOUND easy enough, all you need is a picture at least 692 pixels wide and a picture editing program that you can crop with. I used the default program (Preview?) the comes on a MacBook. Here's the picture I used as my base, me and Kashi (692 x 539):
Next, start on the left side of the picture and crop out what will be used as your "Profile Picture". This has to be 180 pixels wide and 540 pixels high:
Next, for the "strip" of "Pictures of You" (where you are tagged) you have to crop out a section that is 495 pixels wide and 70 pixels high. After you have your "strip", crop it into 5 smaller pictures (about 98.5 pixels wide)

This is the tough part because the article says to start cropping 20 pixels down the right side of the picture. It actually depends on how much info you have filled out for your profile (i.e Where you worked & your projects, schools, relationships, etc.) So what I ended up doing was taking a screen shot of my profile and layering it on top of my "base", then erasing the pictures:

After I did that I used it as a reference to what and where I should crop my photos. For my Kashi's mouth, I cropped out a picture that was 440 x 150 and cropped it into 3 pictures (145 x 150). This was my finished project when I uploaded everything on Facebook:

I tried everything I could to fix the cheek part. Oh well! Anyway, to upload the photos of the parts of Kashi's face, I made 2 albums. I uploaded the "strip" from "right to left". So to make it look like this on my page:

You upload the pics backwards, like this:

Don't "Publish" these pictures & tag yourself from "right to left" again. Finally for Kashi's mouth I uploaded the last 3 pictures and "Published" them.

*Phew! Ok, have fun with it guys!!!

First Blog.

Hello world! I don't know why I started a blog, it just seemed like a fun. So what do I write about? What would I want to look back on a year from now? I wanted to blog about something deep and meaningful, but I really can't think of anything... So I guess I'll babble?

Well I took one of my best friends to Tripler Army Medical Center's ER last night at 9pm. They kept us there until 4AM! SEVEN HOURS! Anyway, I was bored and snapped a pic with my iPhone of my and my boyfriend's kicks. (Oreo VIs & LBJ VIIs)

After I took this, I realized how much I love them. I wanted to buy another pair for a future photo shoot. After calling all of the Foot Lockers and Champs on Oahu, to my dismay my size (5Y) is sold out everywhere! I shouldn't of slept on that 2nd pair. Anyway, on my search for the Oreos, I decided to pick up a pair of Lakers before they ran out of my size too. Plus, they were on sale!

Oreos.

Laker VIs vs Oreo VIs

Yellow & Purple... not one of my favorite color combos xD

The Jumpman on the lace holders are purple

The thing that sold me was the stitching! Dope.

The top layer is actually 3M.
(As you can see with the flash.)

I have a small collection going, but I guess that's what I'll be blogging about in the future ;) Next pair I'm gonna buy are the White Cement IIIs (Jan 22nd Release)
